When making my pieces I use the wheel, hand build and also alter shapes made from forms I have thrown or also made myself. I search thrift stores and yard sales for bowls, platters and more that I can then make plaster mold. I also love to find hand carved wooden bowls and trays that I can use for interesting forms. The imperfect nature of those pieces make for interesting creations to house my designs.
The hunt for these pieces is also part of the joy and creation.
Carving into the clay is probably one of my most favorite things. I create the form, slip it, then as the piece speaks to me scenes of birds, leaves, vines, flowers, owls and other natural images will emerge in the carvings on each piece.
